PassTrip

Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 21, 2026

PassTrip ("PassTrip", "we", "us") is a travel companion app that lets you explore historic places, listen to audio stories, collect a virtual passport, and share travel moments with friends. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the PassTrip iOS application and related services at passtrip.app.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address, a username you choose, and a display name. You may optionally add a profile photo.

Content you create. Photos and captions you post as moments, stickers you place in your passport, group tours you create or join, and messages you send to other users.

Location data. With your permission, we collect your device's precise location to verify country visits for your virtual passport, unlock location-based stickers, and show nearby historic places. See section 3 for details.

Purchase information. If you subscribe to Pass+, our payment partner processes the transaction and we receive subscription status and purchase history. We never see or store your payment card details; those are handled by Apple.

Usage and device data. Basic technical information such as device model, operating system version, app version, language, and interaction events (for example which screens are used) to keep the app working and improve it. Crash logs may be collected to diagnose problems.

2. How we use your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your personal information for third-party advertising.

3. Location data

Location access is optional and controlled by you through iOS permissions. When enabled, we use your precise location to:

Country verification happens at the moment you request it; we store the resulting entry (for example "visited the United Kingdom") rather than a continuous history of your movements. We do not track your location in the background for advertising or profiling purposes. If you disable location access, the app remains usable but location-based features (passport unlocking, nearby discovery) will not work.

4. Sharing and service providers

We share data only with service providers that help us operate PassTrip, under agreements that limit their use of your data to providing services to us:

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of PassTrip and its users. If PassTrip is involved in a merger or acquisition, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction under the same protections.

5. What other users can see

PassTrip is a social app. Your username, display name, profile photo, moments you post, reactions, and parts of your passport (such as countries visited and stickers) may be visible to other users depending on your connections and settings. Direct messages are visible to their participants. Please post only what you are comfortable sharing.

6. Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account from within the app (Profile → Settings → Delete Account) or by contacting us. When your account is deleted, your profile, moments, passport data, and messages are removed from our production systems; residual copies in backups are purged on a rolling basis within 30 days. Some records may be retained longer where required by law (for example purchase records).

7. Security

All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. Access to production systems is restricted, and media files are served through access-controlled storage. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard measures.

8. Children

PassTrip is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including the EU/EEA, UK, and certain US states), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these directly in the app; for anything else, contact us using the details below. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

10. Tracking and advertising

PassTrip does not display third-party advertising and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. If this changes in a future version, we will update this policy and request any consent required by applicable law and Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework before doing so.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by other reasonable means before the changes take effect. The "Effective date" above shows when this policy was last revised.
